Where can I find my 16-digit ViaSecure Registration Key?
The 16-digit Registration Key can be found on the bottom of the cover page
(the first page) of the Patent License Agreement (PLA), labeled "ViaSecure ID."
The ID is also at the bottom of the second page of the PLA.
How can I get an account if I don't have a 16-digit Registration Key?
If you don't have a 16-digit Registration Key, you can request a ViaSecure account.
Click on the
Sign up without a Registration Key link to
sign up for an account.
Select the appropriate licensing program you would like to view or report
under and complete the required fields. Your company information will be verified
to ensure that you have permission to view and report under the license you've
specified. This approval process may take up to three (3) business days.
When the approval process is complete an email will be sent to the address you
specify in the sign-up process.
Why does my password have to be so complex?
Passwords must be sufficiently complex to provide adequate security and must
not be trivial. Passwords must be changed every twelve months.
Account Management
How can I change my password, or what if I’ve forgotten my password?
You can change or reset your password by clicking on the
Forgot your password? link or by selecting "Password" from the
pull-down Account Profile menu in the top right corner of the ViaSecure window. Enter your
email address and you'll receive an email with a link and instructions to change your
password. When you receive the email, follow the instructions and you’ll be directed to a
ViaSecure page that will allow you to enter and confirm a new password for your account.
How can I change my email address?
Select "Edit Profile" from the pull-down Account Profile menu in the top right corner
of the ViaSecure window. Edit your Account Profile page as needed. Remember that your
email address is also your ViaSecure login ID.

My company has more than one patent license agreement with Via. How can I get access to report under an additional agreement?
If your company has executed more than one license agreement with Via, you
can add the new agreement at any time, as long as you have the 16-digit Registration
Key for the new agreement. Add the new agreement by selecting "Add Agreement" from
the pull-down Account Profile menu in the top right corner of the ViaSecure window.

My company has more than one patent license agreement with Via. How can I get access to report under an additional agreement?
If your company has executed more than one license agreement with Via, you
can add the new agreement at any time, as long as you have the 16-digit Registration
Key for the new agreement. Add the new agreement by selecting "Add Agreement" from
the pull-down Account Profile menu in the top right corner of the ViaSecure window.
How do I start reporting my company’s past practice?
When you’re ready to begin reporting, select the first (earliest) quarter in
which your company sold licensed products. Enter the data for each applicable
product category and submit the report for that quarter. Repeat this procedure for
each following quarter, earliest to latest, until you have submitted reports for
all past quarters. Finally, if the current quarter has closed, complete and submit the
report for the most recent quarter.
Please Note: If the earliest quarter in which your company sold licensed products
is more than three years ago, you’ll need to contact Via
for assistance.
Can I enter a Purchase Order (P.O.) number if my company requires it as a reference?
Yes. At the beginning of the data entry process for each reporting quarter, whether
entering data in the on-screen forms or by uploading a spreadsheet, you can add a P.O.
number to associate with the report. An entry box for this information is found at the
bottom of the first data entry page.
How do I defer a payment?
If the total payment due is $25,000 or less, you may defer payment for one quarter.
ViaSecure will present this option when data for all applicable product categories
has been entered, but before the report has been submitted. In the Defer Payment
dialog box, click the "Yes" button to defer payment for one quarter or the "No"
button to complete your report for the quarter and receive an invoice.
How can I view the calculation for the total amount due?
The calculation performed by ViaSecure is presented on screen when the report is
finally submitted — including all product categories and all past quarters (if applicable).
The calculation is also presented on the last page(s) of the PDF invoice.
How do I view an invoice for a previously submitted quarter?
Select a reporting quarter for which you’ve previously entered and submitted a report.
Near the bottom of the page you will see a date on which the report for that reporting
quarter was submitted. Under that date you’ll see a link labeled "View Invoice."
Select this link and the associated invoice in PDF (.pdf) form will open if you
have a PDF reader on your computer. You can print and/or save this PDF file.
I made a mistake in my reporting, how can I correct and resubmit my report?
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to alter a report using the standard ViaSecure procedures
once it has been submitted. If you need to correct a previously submitted report please
contact Via Licensing for assistance.
Why should I upload my company’s tax certificates?
Submitting your company’s tax certificates by uploading them through ViaSecure saves
you time and money by eliminating the need to mail the physical documents each quarter.
You simply upload them each quarter then mail the originals to Via only once a year.

Troubleshooting
I am not getting any emails from ViaSecure.
Be sure to check your spam/junk folders in case emails from ViaSecure are going
to one of those folders by mistake. You can also add the ViaSecure email address
to your contacts and/or safe senders list.
I am having problems viewing the PDF invoice. How can I correct this?
The problem might be that you do not have a PDF reader installed on your computer. You can
download a free copy of Acrobat reader from Adobe:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/. If you are
able to open other PDF files on your computer, try downloading the invoice from ViaSecure
again. If you are still having difficulty,
please contact Via Licensing for assistance.
